Currently Sniffling

Hello sweet blogger friends...it has been a while. Goodness...I haven't had a moment this past week to jump on and blog...my Bloglovin' has 116 unread posts...Holy Moly!  I have a lot of reading ahead of me! I guess there is one advantage to being a little under the weather...lots of reading in bed with my box of tissues nearby. This summer cold is kicking my keister. Between Mrs. Whitt's sweet kiddos and mine, we are dropping like flies...So here is to a day in bed with lots of vitamin C, tissues, and Bloglovin to combat the sniffles!

I am joining Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this month's Currently! Nevermind that I am joining really, REALLY late!

And I am joining Run! Miss Nelson's Got the Camera for her weekly Saturday Snapshots! Also...late. haha...Hi, I am Tina, and I am always late! But I just have to share Justin's Senior Pics. ;) Be sure to stop by and check out both fun linkie parties.

Any~who....I have tons to share...so hold on!

Last weekend, I spent some time at Barnes and Noble spending some of my birthday gift cards.

Of course I ended up at my the shelf
that houses the books from my fave author...
can't wait for the 8th book to come out.
I picked up a beautiful new writer's notebook, and I also picked up a book that has been on my wishlist for a while now. Last year, a parent recommended Rick Yancey's The 5th Wave. I cannot wait to dig into this one! Thank you again to my sweet kiddos and parents for my wonderful birthday! So spoiled!

Check out this quick book trailer...doesn't it look so cool!

I picked the hubby up at the airport after his trip up north to visit family. I sure missed this crazy guy while he was gone...love him. :)

I also spent some quiet time working in the classroom last weekend...well, this weekend, too!

We have accomplished much so far!

The students have impressed me so far in their responses in their reader's notebooks! I have been working hard to make sure not to get behind....not an easy task with so many, LOL...but I do love reading them. :)

My little writers are loving sharing their stories!

We have started using our "Twitter Board" to share with each other as well! We will also start updating it often as a sort of "exit ticket."

Our morning meetings are still going well. We are having so much fun getting to know each other!

Friday night rolled around, and I got to watch my boy play under those Friday Night Lights! I just love football season.

Haha....check out #3!

My sister took amazing Senior Pics of my Justin. :) So proud of him!

I am still on my quest to read 40 books...the same as my kiddos. :) I can't wait to do a book talk with my kiddos tomorrow...I have some boys that are going to LOVE The Fourth Stall by Chris Rylander.  Here are all of the titles I have read this week...I know; I am all over the place in genre...just trying to hit as many as I can to share in book talks.

I know I haven't shared any picture books for a while. This is the beginning of the year, and I am using many of my go to books that I have already shared with you.. I didn't want to bore you to death by repeating all of the usual suspects....but whoo hoo...I have a cute one to share with you tonight.

You know I love this author/ illustrator team. Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell are awesome together. My Brave Year of Firsts is so sticking cute...It was just perfect for our Writing Workshop launch..as we have added maps, lists, and daily pages to our notebooks, we added a new list, a fun list! We jotted down all of our brave firsts...I could hardly write them down fast enough! I would love to share a pic of the anchor we made, but it is sooooo messy! LOL...I will have to rewrite it before I post it. OCD, much... :) Each kiddo added their very own lists of firsts to their notebooks and then started writing!

Whelp....that's a lot; I know! Thanks for sticking with me till the end. :) I am off to take more vitamin C...have to get well for tomorrow...that alarm will go off bright and early!

As I say goodbye for the night, I want to share two more sweet pics with you...here are two of my little fur babies...after a summer of doggy drama, I am glad to report all are happy and healthy for the moment! (knock on wood ;) Just look at my one-eyed pirate...he is still a precious cutie pie, and since the little one is always moving, the only way I could snap a pic was to catch her sleeping, haha!

Happy reading, friends!

  2. Where do I begin. You have so many great pictures. I love the senior pictures and of the twitter board. I bet you missed your hubby. It's always nice to go work in the classroom when it's quiet. Your pup is just like mine always on the go! Thanks for linking up.

    1. Emily,

I am such a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon...seems like I have been reading her books most of my adult life. LOL...she has ruined me for most other adult authors. haha...

As far as book talks, I have do not have a post about it yet. I just try to do a book talk everyday on a book that I have read and can pump up! Usually, once I get them excited about a book, I cannot keep it in the library...it passes hand to hand pretty quickly. I do them as often as possible until I am ready to turn the book talks over to the kiddos.
